Description

Charles Village is vibrant neighborhood with a diverse mix of residential, commercial, cultural and educational components. Famous for the wild colors of its famous “Painted Ladies” rowhomes, as well as the presence of such institutions as Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood campus, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Charles village has remained an exciting and popular neighborhood since it was originally developed as Peabody Heights after the Civil War. In 1994, the Charles Village Community Benefits District was approved to serve the area’s sanitation and safety needs. In 2008, Charles Village was named one of the nation’s ten best neighborhoods by the American Planning Association.

Description

The Old Goucher neighborhood is part of the Old Goucher College Historic District and hosts a diverse variety of professional firms and non-profit organizations, as well as a number of ethnic restaurants. Howard Street has become Baltimore’s “Automotive Alley” with a large concentration of auto-related service vendors.

Description

Charles North is a small but diverse neighborhood located in the geographic heart of Baltimore City. As part of the Station North Arts & Entertainment District, the neighborhood is home to a rapidly growing artistic community which benefits from a number of tax incentives geared to promotion of the arts in this area of central Baltimore.

The neighborhood’s convenient, centralized location, as well as its arts scene and proximity to Amtrak’s Pennsylvania Station and MTA’s Light Rail have made Charles North one of Baltimore’s most promising neighborhoods in terms of commercial and residential revitalization.

Description

Mount Vernon, Baltimore’s only National Register Historic District, serves as the cultural and historic heart of Baltimore City. Among the cultural and educational institutions located in the neighborhood are The Walters Art Museum, The Peabody Institute, The University of Baltimore, The Lyric Opera House, The Basilica of the Assumption, The Enoch Pratt Free Library, and The Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. In addition to these cultural institutions, Charles Street in Mount Vernon is home to a wide variety of restaurants, bars, retail shops, and art galleries.

The centerpiece of the neighborhood is the nation’s original Washington Monument and the squares that make up the Mount Vernon Place, which is surrounded on all sides by some of Baltimore’s grandest residential architecture.

Description

Downtown/City Center is home to Baltimore’s Central Business District and approximately 115,000 office workers, 38,000 residents, and 20,000 students, ranking 7th among U.S. cities for both population density and household income within a 1-mile radius of City Center. In addition to being the home of Baltimore’s business community, the area has emerged as a hot spot for the development of hotels, condominiums, and apartment buildings. There are many opportunities for fine dining and shopping in the area for residents and workers to enjoy, in addition to close proximity to many local attractions, such as The National Aquarium, The Maryland Science Center, and The Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum, as well as First Mariner Arena, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and M&T Bank Stadium.
